The «Sietechiros» is a real traditional character from many Colombian towns, but in Chinavita has been called ‘Sietechiros’ since about the 90s.
She usually spends her days walking on the streets askink for cloth, and the people give her some old cloth. She sometimes is a little agresive and angry (depends on the town), and children usually are scared of her.

On the other hand, Chinavita has another famous character, her name is María. She usually is called ‘María contento’, (it means ‘Happiness María’) because she loves to help every people to whatever and wherever. She is very happy and always is in the town’s parties (popular, religious, familiar, etc.) dancing all the time. In spite of her sudden mood swing, she isn’t dangerous.

Finally, the habitants of the countryside of Boyacá, are
hardworking and kind people. And their traditional and actual dresses are with Fieltro hat, wool sweater, skirt, sometimes pants under the skirt, shoes or boots, and socks of any colour.


After researching their stories, and falling in love with their, Angela Gámez created the dance character called ‘La Siete Chiros’, based on our two traditional characters from Chinavita: ‘la Sietechiros’ and ‘happiness María’ and our field people.
The character ‘Siete Chiros’ will be introduced:
The ‘Siete Chiros’ is a woman from Chinavita, a tiny and beautiful town in Colombia. She is a little crazy but at the same time, she is vibrant, very funny and kind with everyone.
Her humor changes suddenly but she isn’t dangerous. She loves to dance a lot.
